4 weeks later!! Week 9

Today it was amazing to see the baby on ultrasound. I was able to see the legs and hands moving and the tiny heart pumping. It was so amazing.

I can't believe it has been 9 weeks. So far I have gotten sick twice during the night and that was a once a week thing, had a bladder infection and feeling fatigue other than that things are progressing nicely. Thank you Lord!

My mom has also bought baby Younger some onesies. I love looking at baby clothes more than ever before. The question is blue or pink!? Can't wait to find out in 10 weeks!

I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant!!!

Wow! That is all I can say! What a true Miracle from the Lord! Many of you don't know about my condition its called...PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). It is when you have benign cysts on your ovaries and you don't ovulate every month and sometimes can be genetic. Symptoms are weight gain, depression/anxiety, facial hair, no menstration and very difficult to get pregnant but it can be done with the proper treatment and careful watching of hormone levels thru bloodwork and ultrasound.

Our Journey....

On January 2009 we decided to go see a fertilty doctor at Uconn Health Center since we knew I didn't ovulate regularly and had to take special drugs to bring on a period. My older sister had the same symptoms and diagnosis so I knew I had PCOS without getting a ultrasound. So in January I went and it was confirmed that I had PCOS thru the ultrasound and bloodwork. After a ton of blood work about 10 vials of blood taken everything came back normal and the bloodwork confirmed I did not ovulate. When I was all clear from the lab work I started Clomid. We started with 50mg no such luck in ovulating. I took 100mg and I ovulated on the last day of testing but didn't get pregnant. So we decided to stay with 100mg and try again. No such luck with that. Than we up the dose to 150mg. No Such Luck. The doctor at that point decided that the clomid would not work so he advised me to do shots and IUI. And guess what I'm pregnant!!

On July 23,2009 we found out that I was pregnant. I was in shock and I kept asking the nurse on the phone. So I am really pregnant! It was like I was in a dream! It was a shocker! Eric was calling me every hour..."Did they call". I called him and I said "we need to clean the room next to our bedroom!" He didn't get it..as I was talking to him he had another call come in and than that's when it dawned on him! He called me back and said so did the dr call. I said yeah. He said "and the results are." I said to him "you know what it is". I kept teasing him. So finally I called him and he broke down in tears.

That night we went to Century Buffet with my parents for dinner!

So far I have had mild waves of nausea and cramps but other than that I don't feel any different!

4th of July

For 4th of July we ended going to Strawberry Park and doing an overnight camping trip with my whole family. We had a great time with everyone. We did have some unusual people that were next to us that was slamming thing, yelling, and had the TV very loud all night and than they had the nerve to complain about Jenna and Josh who are little toddlers. It was nice going and it was beautiful weather. Too bad it didn't last long. I also had Monday and Tuesday off. What fun!

Am I really 31?

Well people I officially turned 31 on June 26th. I can't believe it! I had a good day. I took the day off and any day that I don't have to get up early and go to work is a good day. LOL!

I got to sleep in, enjoy some quiet time, went out to lunch with my mom, went to the mall with my mom and than later in the evening my mom and Eric and me went to JT Timothy's! It was a great day! Oh and the thunderstorm didn't effect my day, maybe just a little!

Halfway thru June!!!

Wow we are half way thru June already. This Sunday is 1st day of summer! YEAH! We have had Rain, Rain, and more Rain these days. I think maybe that is why I come home so tired and sleepy.

I do have to say I have been a little discouraged lately but my hubby is there to encourage me and help me when needed. I love him so much!

Our church friends have been truly an encouragement to me as well. Thanks Dan and Talie and Annemarie for your care and concern but mostly for your prayers. They mean a lot.

I can't believe I will be 31 next week. Wow! Where does the time go? Don't know what the plans are for my birthday but I am sure my hubby will make it extra special.

This past weekend we finally went to the beach it was a little dark and rainy but we still had a good time together....Watching the seagalls and birds fly around. Looking forward to the next time we go!

May Happenings!

Where does the time go? Seems like yesterday I just posted the blog below.

Anyways we have had a lot of celebrations this May..We had my brother's Jack and Jill, than it was Mother's Day, My Mom's Birthday, and my Papa's 96th Birthday oh and I forgot Eric and I went to go see Phantom of the Opera and now we are looking forward to Kristen's Graduation.

The Jack and Jill was great. There was tons of people there. I didn't know my brother and future sister in law knew that many people. It was a so much fun especially the raffle and hearing the band that was there.

For Mother's Day we had a great Service. Ken Mansfield manager of the Beatles was at our church on Mother's Day. It was great hearing about his work with the Beatles and how he became a Christian. Very Interesting and intriguing. After church we went to Stonewell for brunch and then after that we went to my Grandmother's Graveside. I can't believe it's been 7 years! I miss her!

My Grandfather will be 96 in a couple of days. Wow! 96 and he is sharp and doing great! We all went out to Outback to celebrate and than came back to his house and had cake!

The flowers are finally blooming and warm weather is starting to kick in. It is so beautiful! Things have been a little busy so that is why I haven't blogged. It looks like I am back on the radar. Not much to report. On April 1st I got rear-ended and my car got slightly damaged. The cop gave the girl a ticket and took her car away for not having a license on her. So my car is fixed and the her insurance paid 100%. Glad no one got hurt.

For Easter, we had 2 services at our church. My parents, Ang and Ryan and the kids, and Kris and Brandon came to church too. Eric had tons of specials lined up and it was nice to hear people sing. We also had both piano's at church were going and it was quite nice to have 2 going at least I felt a little more confident if I messed up the other piano would cover my mistake. After church we went to my parents house for dinner and my mom made the usual full meal. The twins got to do their Easter egg hunt. It was so cute to see them all dressed up and searching for eggs. We stopped over Papa's house and spent some time with him and than we went over Lindsay's (my future sister in law) parent's house for coffee and dessert. FYI--My Brother is finally getting married in 3 months!

Hi Everyone...I hope you all are staying nice and warm. I can't believe it's almost March already and that 10 years ago today The 25th Eric asked me to marry him. Here it goes the memory let's see if I remember..

It was a cold snowy day and Eric came to visit me from college. He took me out on a date and we went out to Chili's near the Westfarms mall. It was snowing out very badly. We went driving around West Hartford and I could tell that he was looking for the perfect spot to ask me to marry him. So we ended up in Southington at Central Baptist. And in the parking lot he asked me to marry him. It was Friday night and then the next day we got our engagement pictures done and then later we had an engagement party at my parents.

You ask why the 25th is so special because a year before he asked me to marry him he asked me to be his girlfriend...and the date lives on in history. Its like a 2nd anniversary to celebrate!

February Happenings

Alright where do I start from the last post...its been awhile....

Well...things at work are going pretty good. I am getting trained on a few new things and I am getting use to the fact that I drive 1 hour a day to work. I also am getting use to the 1 hour lunch break I have to take. Tomorrow I begin my workouts in the gym Metlife provides. Anyways...I got a call from The Hartford asking me to come back. The hours they said that are needed are 6am to 2:3o plus good old Saturdays. I guess they are not outsourcing just yet.. I told them I can start at 7 but 6am is way too early!!! The HR said that they will relay the feedback for me and that they will call me if they like my suggestion...no word yet!! That was Thursday at 5pm when they called me.

Music at church has been exciting...I am getting a little more confident with playing please pray for me! The people at church have been so encouraging and so sweet...speaking of Church Eric got asked to share a devotion at the Valentine Banquet. How exciting. God is good. I am so glad we are at Liberty at the time we didn't understand how God was working and others didn't understand but we are so happy now! We are looking forward to the future!

This month it will be 10 years ago that Eric asked me to be his wife. Time goes by fast. Thanks for stopping by!

We had a great Christmas inspite of some things that happened.

On Christmas Eve when I got home from shopping for last minute things and work Eric and I exchanged presents. He got me a steam mop and a kodak camera. I love it. I got him a Red soxs shirt and the Dark Knight Movie, and a flashlight, sweater, and a dress shirt. After that, Eric and I went out with my parents to Outback for dinner. We had a good time and had a good dinner. After dinner we went over Assunta's house to see Nonna and everyone. It was fun. Didn't get home until after midnight!

On Christmas Day we went over my parents house and opened gifts. This year we drew names. I got my mom and she got me. Pretty interesting how that worked out. It was fun. The twins are so cute. They got Elmo Live from Uncle Jonny! My mom prepared a good dinner like usual and it was a great day!

I am trying to enjoy this time of the year. It really doesn't seem like Christmas to me. I think I am little overwhelmed with this new job and getting home at 5:30 every night. So far I have been to two Christmas plays, a ladies Christmas Party, and tomorrow at work they are having a "Year End Party" Whatever happened to the word Christmas...I hate the word Holiday. So here it goes loud and clear to you all "Merry CHRISTMAS!!! There I said it!

This didn't happen to me but someone else but it touched me! Let the ripple effect begin!!!

While I was waiting in the drive through line at Dunkin Donuts the other day in Rocky Hill, I could not imagine what was taking the guy in the SUV ahead of me so long to pay for his items. When I got to the window to pay for my coffee and for some other members of the morning team, I was informed the guy in front of me paid for my coffees! The woman at the window said, “You’re all set, he’s one of our regular customers and he pays for the car behind him all the time! He did not know who I was and decided to be nice and pay. It makes you think, how just one small act of kindness smooths out your whole day. Can you imagine if we all thought like that and what the ripple effects might be? Thank you to that kind man and next time I will pay for the car behind me!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving. I trust you all had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. We did! My parents had us over and my mom did the over and beyond of cooking and preparing. Everything was delicious. Right before dinner our usual tradition is for everyone to say what they are thankful for. I think it is very neat to hear what everyone is thankful for. There is so much to be thankful for...for Jesus, life, family, friends, and so much more. PTL! To God be the Glory!

The twins are growing like weeks. Jenna is so funny with her obsession with Shrek you should hear her always talking about babies, oger, shrek. Its so funny. Josh is so cute with him saying "I Love You". Its so sweet.
Work is going well. Its a piece of cake not much to deal with and alot of times its just hanging out. Hey at least I am getting paid.
Not much to report. I am kinda getting bored with this blog but not bored with facebook. Its so addicting! Until later. Please drop a line! I want to hear from you!

I survived the 1st week of my new job! The only thing I don't like is the traveling part. There is so much traffic coming this way. It was a pretty relaxing week..Didnt get trained on too many things. I guess it takes a while before I do plus my manager was out for 3 days! Yesterday was my first day at Metlife. I have been not really busy. I have been doing Prepping paperwork and getting organized. I am not sure what my main duties are. I hope it will be more than what I am doing now. My manager said the next couple of days will be boring but to hang on. I am busy setting up "house" since my hours will be 8-5. The cafetaria is awesome. They have so much to choose from and it is amazing. Everything you can think of is available. Its so quiet in the room and there are so many people here. Feels like I am in a library. So far I haven't noticed the clickliness of people and everyone is to themselves. I even have my own phone and computer and I dont have people down my back. So I am enjoying it so far. My neighbor was really friendly to me this morning. I also like the fact of all the walking you get around here. Well back to paperwork..Taping, writing up forms...

Yum! Yum! Apple Crisp

Last night I made this and it was so delicious

6 McIntosh apples, peeled and diced into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup flour or fine graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 9 by 12 baking dish, combine apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. In a small bowl, mix flour or graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and butter together using the tines of a fork and your fingers, working until even, small crumbles form. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples and bake 15 to 20 minutes until apples are just tender and topping is golden brown. Top dishes of apple crisp with small scoops of vanilla ice cream. YUM!

New Job! No more Saturdays!

After about a year of searching for the right job, I got an offer at Metlife in their Remittance Department. I will be working M-F (8-5) without working on Saturdays. I now can have a 2 day off break in a row. I just got done doing a drug test and now I have to go to the police department to get Fingerprinted. What next? I dont mind at least I will not be working with drug addicted people or criminals. LOL....I am excited and have mixed emotions about what the job is all about. I am also excited I will be making more money!

So thats the new news in my life right now. I will be posting some fall recipes soon. Be on the lookout!

It's been over a week since I posted...I just haven't posted because I have been extremly busy with work, practicing the piano, youth group activities, looking for a new job, piano lessons, working out and we also had computer problems in which we had to buy a new computer but I am back! I have been so busy that I haven't even seen my parents in over a week....When is this running around and hustle and bustle going to end?!

Eric and I managed to find a day to go to the BIG E. We had a great time there....we happened to see a table with beautiful calendars that were free with Bible verses on them. It was amazing to see a booth that had God's Word and the gospel! I will have to post the pictures from the Big E!

This past weekend Eric and I went camping with the Youth Group from our church. I believe it was my first time sleeping in a tent at a campground. Our dog, Toby even came with us. It was a fun night around the campfire with the kids and just talking. We had a potluck dinner and that was cool. We made smores and played games. When we finally went to bed...it was freezing...Luckly I brought a huge blanket and we also had our sleeping bags. I was able to sleep good with waking up here and there. On Sunday we had a church service on the campground and then we hung out. Around 3pm we head to the orchard and picked some apples and peaches...Can you guess what I am doing now?? Making Apple pie. Making the filling is easy but the making homemade crust is a pain!!!!

On Friday night E and I went out to check LA Fitness out. We are excited about joining. Hopefully we will lose weight, feel better and look better. That is our plan.

LA Fitness is awesome! They have a basketball court, racketball, a pool, boxing, all kinds of classes, a sauna, jacuzzi, all kinds of machines. They even have a daycare for kids!

We are so excited.

Labor Day Festivities

Sunday night after church we left for Old Lyme. We slept at my family's cottage overnight to be there all day at the Beach. On Monday morning we got up and us girls (Brooke, Nicoletta, and a friend and I headed to a fun place. I was so impressed. I will definitely be visiting it again. When I got back from the Girls outing. Eric and I walked along the beach and just sat there relaxing. In the afternoon my parents and sister and her bf came and we had a picnic in the backyard. We also stopped at the famous icecream place. Yum!

I had a great 5 days off in a row and now its back to the grind.

Today I feel good because I finally had a day off on a Saturday

The best part of my day was getting the laptop to work and walking around at the fair
Something I am looking forward to tomorrow is hearing Eric sing and play the guitar and me playing the piano and then going to Nino's party to sleep overnight at the beach in Old Lyme.

Friday Travel

Yesterday Eric and I had work off. We decided to use our new GPS to go for a short day trip to Kittery Maine. We went to the outlets and we love Van Heusen. We had a great time together in the car to talk and have some bonding time. We also went out to dinner we tried TGIF. It was so good. Great prices too.

Today Eric is busy working on the computer he has a Virus on the computer and I should be working around the house.

Tomorrow is Church and we will be involved in a special song service at night. Eric is planning on playing the guitar and singing.

Today I feel good because I had off today and spent the day with Eric and I got to shop

The best part of my day was shopping and finding 2 shirts that fit YEAH and a size that I didn't fit fitted.

RIP Summer 2008

Well this is the last week of summer 2008. Where did the summer go...I dont know. Anyways we didn't have a chance to go to the beach we did go our favorite spot Stonington Point and took our chairs out and just sat and watch boats go by, climbed rocks and fell asleep in the car. LOL.
We are planning to go this weekend to the beach. YEAH!

Eric and I did go away for a mini weekend getaway we went to VT. With the price of gas we didn't go far away as usual so we bought season passes to Lake Compounce. So hopefully we will go one last time this week.

Other then that it was a busy summer with work, parties and so on.

This past Sunday we had a picnic with our church in Litchfield it was a lot of fun and we got to talk and get to know a lot of people better. Anyways here is a new thing I am going to try out on the blog

About one year ago Eric and I joined Liberty Baptist. We have met some very dear folks and became friends with so many people. Recently Pastor and Mrs D went out with us for lunch and asked Eric to be in charge of the music. Its been always a desire of Eric's and a desire for me also to work with the music. We are totally excited and we pray that we will get more comfortable and that the Lord will give us great ability to go forward. We are also working in the youth department and we love teens and think that teens need encouragement and help during this time in their lives. So we will be busy on Friday nights with that. Please be praying for us! We need the Lord to enable us!

Our 9th Anniversary!

Today August 7th 2008 marks our 9th anniversary. Wow! Where does the time go to. I am so thankful for God giving me a husband to love me and be there for me thru the good times and bad times. I cherish all the time we have together.

Today we got a early morning call from Eric's mom wishing us a happy anniversary! That was very sweet of her. She left messages on each of our cell phones. How sweet. We both had to work all day but I was looking forward to spending the night going out to dinner and walking around at Evergreen Shops in South Windsor. He kept saying over and over to me..."Wow this place is amazing. Lets come back some Saturday". So I am happy I found a place he loves to go to with stores! LOL....

Anyways we walked around a little it was raining lightly but it didn't rain too badly. We ended up at Ted's Montana Grill" Very good and not too costly. All the food was hand made and not processed. Definitely will re visit. Had a good time together and look forward to more times!

Oh by the way we both exchanged gifts and we both got each other some movies....I got him August Rush and He like always out did me and bought me 3 movies one was "The Notebook".

VT getaway

On Saturday Eric and I took off to Vermont for the weekend. We left around 11:30 after dropping the dog off, going to the bank, getting things ready....we arrived about 2:30 in VT and we first stopped at King Arthur Flour Store in Norwich. It was a huge disappointment to us...we thought they would have live baking shows and a lot more to do. There were some unique flour mixes but didn't inspire us to go and buy one. We went around the store twice but only browsed. It did inspire me to bake some bread though so hopefully in a few days I will bake some bread...we will see.. That was our first time there. We decided to re vist the cider mill and Ben and Jerry's.. We were at both places about 3 years ago and had a good time.
So we stopped at Cold Hollow Cider Mill. We did get inspired to buy 2 1/2 pounds of VT honey for 9.50 and a jar of some yummy Honey Mustard. We had a coupon for a cider donut and we shared one too. After that we went down the road to Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. We were going to go on the tour but we decided to not spend the money to see it again since they weren't manufacturing either and we already saw it but we did want to stop and get some ice cream at their store. We split a cookie dessert we got Half baked as the ice cream. YUM! We also stopped at the Cabot Annex to sample some of the cheese and browse. We headed to our hotel and it was beautiful...The lobby amazed us. We got there and chilled for a few hours and then went around to look for a place to eat. Somehow we ended up at Friendlys . It was already too late to eat dinner and we didn't want to travel far and get lost. We came back to the hotel and watched a little bit of Titanic and fell asleep.

Sunday we got up and stopped at Dakin Farm store. There were also a lot of samples to try and we did end up buying Strawberry Jam. Nextdoor was a Barnes and Nobles store and it was so huge. There was tons of clearance but we managed to get out without spending money. Next stop was to get lunch..the night before we saw in a visitor book a place to have pizza and play indoor mini golf. It was a fun place. We had our pizza and wings and played a round of indoor mini golf..It was so fun. Our last stop in VT was at Green Mountain Coffee Factory. We got to see a film about how coffee is picked and harvested and then produced. We had to get a cup of coffee before leaving. Green Mountain is delicious but my stomach doesn't like it. I do have to say we did have a good time together and it was a perfect place to go for a short amount of time.

My Eye is feeling so much better!! PTL!!!

This past Fri night Eric helped out at our church....It was an all nighter activity for the Youth. I couldnt stay all night because of work in the AM. I decided to stay over my parents house and get up and go to work from there. I ran out of Saline solution...Took both of my contacts out and grabbed the wrong contact solution. It was the one that needs to be ionized and than rinsed with saline...I didnt bother reading the bottle...In the morning I woke up and placed my contact in my eye and I about Fell to the ground and screamed. It was horrible...I was even drooling from the burning to be graphic. My mom came running over and she helped me flushed my eye out....pain was not going away....All day yesterday my eye hurt...couldnt even shut the eye. So at night I said hey....you know what I am going to place ice cubes for several hours on my eye...what a relief.....I am doing alot better now...but still pinches slightly. So next time...I will definitely be prepared by bringing my own saline. I dont keep that kind of contact solution in my house!!!
Well its midnight and I have work in the AM!!! Praise the Lord that I didnt have to go to the ER and I am doing much better.

Where do I begin...I am about a week behind..sorry

On Friday July 4th Eric and I went over Aunt Holly, Papa and the Smith's House for a 4th of July picnic. We had a good time with everyone around. There was tons of food as usual. I ended up making cupcakes to bring over. I tried a recipe in my new cookbook for Devil Food Cupcake. It was easy and delicious. I will have to share the recipe at a later time.

At night Wes lite up some fireworks and they were beautiful. The twins were so amazed. We also had some smores! Yum Yum

These past couple of days have been so busy! Saturday my parents and hubby planned a Birthday party for me. People were very generous and for that I am very grateful. I had a great time on Saturday seeing everyone. It was a great day and of course my mom cooked some great food. I will have to post pictures later....too tired!

On Sunday we started our VBS at our church. I had the same group of kids every night and it gave me an opportunity to get to know them better each night. It was a western theme so I was dressed like a cowgirl! It was a lot of fun and I am so glad I participated. Tonight was the last night! :( Be back soon with pictures....stayed tune............

Today was my Birthday. I did indeed have a good one....Last night around midnight I got a big smile and Hug from Eric. He wished me a Happy Birthday and gave me a cute little card....and boy was it hilarious. So after that I arrived upstairs to the bedroom and he goes "I got you a little something". He pulls out a bag from "The COACH". I knew right away he indeed got me an expensive purse from COACH. It is very lovely. Thank You Eric!

Today when I walked into work I had a lot of people say Happy Birthday and there was confetti on my desk with a card from my department. It was a pretty busy day! I also showed off my new COACH bag to all my friends at work. I was so proud to show off my husbands present to me! Tonight we went to Hometown buffet with my parents and Kristen and Brandon. It was fun. Also my mom and I went shopping for the B-day party on Saturday! It was a good day and now I am 30........................Thank you to all my friends and family that wished me a happy birthday. The e-cards and calls and cards were greatly appreciated. Hugs and Kisses to all!

Father's Day Weekend

Well what a weekend. Busy busy busy....Well it was all worth it to spend time with family!

Saturday we went over our cousins house for a graduation party. After the party we went over my parents house and got to see my papa and aunt. Sunday--(Father's Day) we took my dad out to Ponderosa for brunch. In the afternoon we went to Lexies Birthday party. So it was a pretty busy weekend.

10 more days to go till I reach 30. I have mixed emotions about it. Just trying to remember that its only a number.

Well its back to the good ole work production. Lots of mail to open and process....be back soon!

5 Day Heat Wave

Well it has been really hot here...

On Saturday Eric and I and Kristen and Brandon all went to Lake Compounce. It was busy at first but than we were able to go on all the rides we wanted to...even Boulder Dash...for some of you who dont know what that is its a wooden roller coaster that drops 144 ft. It was so much fun. I can't believe I did that! The waterslides were fun too...I am so thankful my sister Kris didn't get serious hurt from her car accident after we went to Lake Compounce. Her car is really damaged.

Yesterday I had the day off and I went over my parents house for swimming. Thank the Lord they have a pool. I was able to take the twins with me in the pool. Josh was so brave to go in and he was ready to swim away...Jenna was a little timid and she clung on to me so tightly even pinched me. Ouch....What fun we had...my mom took pics so I will have to post them soon.

Examples of Selflessness

Let us turn our attention to the Scriptural examples of selfless people. These were individuals who had a proper perspective on self and others. In each example, the one who manifested selflessness was blessed by the God of heaven.

Abraham (Genesis 13). When the flocks and herds of Abraham and Lot became too large for them to live at the same location, instead of telling his nephew where he could locate, Abraham, acting with regard for others before regard for self, told Lot to choose wherever he wanted to live. Given the fact that he was older, that Lot probably owed his wealth to him and that God had said all the land was his, Abraham could have rationalized that he should make the choice. Instead, he selflessly deferred to Lot. Because of it, Abraham was greatly blessed.

Joseph (Genesis 45). Even though his brothers had sold him into slavery, when they came to Egypt seeking food, he forgave them and then helped them. If he had been selfish, he could have demanded his brothers be punished, or maybe even put to death. Rather, he did what was best for them.

The Good Samaritan (Luke 10). Unlike those who were outwardly pious, he took the time to help a person in need using his own resources and time to gain no advantage for self but only to help a person who needed help.

Barnabas (Acts 4). He saw the needs of his brethren so he sold his land, gave all the money to the Lord's cause so that those in need might have relief.

Paul (Galatians 2:20). Paul selflessly gave himself to the Lord setting an example for all those who would be the kind of disciples the Lord wants.

Jesus. The Son of God selflessly left heaven and came to this world to give Himself as a sacrifice for man's sins (Phil. 2:1-8). He had no selfish motives in His actions.

The Cure for Selfishness: Put "Self" to Death

We cite Galatians 2:20 where the apostle Paul said he was no longer living, but that Christ was living in him. What this means is that he had selflessly given control of his life over to Christ and became obedient to Jesus in all things. We can, and must, do the same. Putting self to death is accomplished by:

Self-denial (Matt. 16:24; Luke 9:23). One denies self by esteeming others better than self (Phil. 2:3; John 13:3-17) and humbling oneself before God (1 Pet. 5:6).

Self-control (Prov. 16:32; Gal. 5:23; 2 Pet. 1:6). One who exercises proper self-control is one who brings every thought and action into conformity with the will of God.

Self-sacrifice (2 Cor. 8:5; Rom. 12:1-2). Christians are to be "living sacrifices" unto God-living each day to accomplish the good works for which they were created so that Father and Son might be glorified in them.

Selfishness Part 1--Biblical Examples of Selfishness...

We are suppose to have our first heat wave this weekend so Eric and I are going to Lake Compounce. Yippy! We are really looking forward to it! A couple needs some fun time too besides working all the time.

I am deeply upset about the recent tragedy about a person getting hit by a car in Hartford...there was a surveillence camera and it showed the whole thing. People were gawking but did nothing to help, dozen of cars passed by...a cop that was responding to an unrealated incident was the one that stopped and finally helped. See the news for the video...I saw it on wfsb.com

1. The car/person that hit him took off fast and didnt stop.

2. Cars kept whizzing by and not stopping. One motorcyle just kept going around him.

3. No one came to his side and tried to help...they all just gawked.

I hope I am not preaching to you all. I am just sharing and trying to help!

People are in their own little world. We need to reach out to others! A simple email, phone call, or a home visit to say "Hi...How are you?" I care about you. . This story really hit home to me after seeing the video of the incident... that I need to be on the lookout to help someone in need and not worry about numero uno.

Examples of Selfishness

Romans 15:4 states that "whatever things were written before were written for our learning that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope." Many of the "things" written in the Bible are examples, both positive and negative, from which we are able to learn how we are or are not to behave and think before God. A lot of those examples are of selfish people who illustrate the characteristics and consequences having an improper attitude toward self. A consideration of those examples is beneficial for anyone who wants to "deny self" and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24).

Cain.

An example of one who had no concern for others (Genesis 4). Most are familiar with the story of Cain -- how God rejected his sacrifice while accepting that of Abel, his brother. Cain, jealous of his brother and having no regard for anyone but self, murdered his brother. When God afterward asks him where Abel was, Cain responds with the question, "Am I my brother's keeper?" (Gen. 4:9). All of us must realize we are our "brother's keepers." We are to look out for the interests of others (Phil. 2:4) and to esteem others better than self (Phil. 2:3). We must love one another (1 John 4:7). Cain's selfishness caused him to hate his brother and kill him (1 John 3:11-12).

Ahab.

An example of one whose selfishness led him to be concerned about things before he was concerned about people. King Ahab coveted Naboth's vineyard and pouted when he could not get it (1 Kings 21). His wicked wife Jezebel killed Naboth and then gave his vineyard to her husband as a gift. He was ecstatic. He gave no thought to Naboth or his family. He had what he wanted. Too many people place undue emphasis on things of this world and too little on people. Jesus said one cannot serve God and things (Matt. 6:24).

David.

An example of a selfish attitude which caused him to seek fulfillment of his own pleasures with no regard to the cost in getting them. His selfish pursuit of pleasure caused him to sin with Bathsheba. His selfishness then led to lies and murder (2 Samuel 11). God did not allow his sin to go unpunished. He sent the prophet Nathan to expose the sin of David and to announce God's judgment upon him. Like David, far too many people today are selfishly pursuing pleasure with no regard for either consequences or the impact of their actions upon others.

James and John.

Examples of those who selfishly desire power and prestige for themselves. They asked for the most prestigious and powerful positions in Jesus' kingdom (Matt. 20), not to help others, but to have their own egos inflated and fulfilled. The rest of the apostles were greatly distressed at their actions but it seems that James and John had given little thought to what the others thought or how they were affected. They wanted what they wanted and were willing to alienate themselves from their brethren in order to get it. Jesus told them their selfishness reflected the selfish attitude of the worldly-minded. Such ambitious drive today still is opposed to the teachings of Jesus. He said that those who would be great in His kingdom would be a servant of all (Matt. 20:26-27).

The Older Brother of the Prodigal (Luke 15).

An example of one who had no compassion or love for others. Jesus stated to His disciples, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another" (John 13:34). While the older brother seemed to love his father, his lack of love for his brother showed otherwise. The Christian may claim to love God but if, out of selfishness, he does not love his brother, he, in reality, does not love God (1 John 4:20-21).

Do you find yourself in any of these examples? If so, you must take the appropriate steps to rectify the situation. You must stop being so focused on self. You must start living for Jesus. When you "deny self," follow Him and allow Him to live in you, His selflessness will be a part of your life. Everything will be better once you start thinking like Christ and thinking of God and others before you think of self. Selfishness can only cause you problems. Selflessness in Christ will bring you great blessings.

I had a spring cleaning in my house. Moved my living room around and later at night we went to the Youth activity to help out. Eric and I will be working with the youth at our church and we are excited.

Saturday

We went over Jon's house for Lyndsey's birthday party. We got home around 9:30 and started watching a movie until we got tired.

Sunday
Eric and I went to church and then went out to Century with Dan. Talie was away for the weekend to visit her family. We came home took a little nap and then got up and went to Wickham Park in Manchester Exit 60 off 84. It was beautiful. Around 7 we went over my parents house for a picnic. Toby got to play with Geno and they were having a ball!

What Fiesty Dogs! It was so cute to watch them. They were wrestling and jumping on each other.

Memorial Day

Eric and I went to Lake Compounce and got our season passes. We did some walking around and of course we went on some of the rides. We had a great time together. The weather was nice and I got a sunburn! We didn't do our favorite thing in the park because we thought it would be too cold to go on the waterslides and wave pool. But next time. After Lake compounce we took a ride to Simsbury with my mom. It was beautiful! We ended up at George's Pizza in Unionville and Kris and Brandon met us there.

Homemade Pita Bread

My mom and I tried this recipe and let me tell you it is delicious! Here it is. Got it off....www.chelley325.wordpress.com. Tried and true recipe. I copied and pasted the recipe from her blog...Here it is. Expect to make these on a day you will be home for a long time.

Pita Bread

Makes 8 pitas

3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 Tablespoon sugar or honey
1 packet yeast [I used instant]
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups water, roughly at room temperature
2 tablespoons olive oil, vegetable oil, butter, or shortening

Mix the yeast in with the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the olive oil and 1 1/4 cup water and stir together with a wooden spoon. All of the ingredients should form a ball. If some of the flour will not stick to the ball, add more water [I had to add a bit more water].
Once all of the ingredients form a ball, place the ball on a work surface, such as a cutting board, and knead the dough for approximately 10 minutes. If you are using an electric mixer, mix it at low speed for 10 minutes. [I did it by hand and 10 minutes was dead on as far as a time estimate.]
When you are done kneading the dough, place it in a bowl that has been lightly coated with oil. Form a ball out of the dough and place it into the bowl, rolling the ball of dough around in the bowl so that it has a light coat of oil on all sides. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and set aside to rise until it has doubled in size, approximately 90 minutes. [Mine doubled in about 40 minutes; maybe it was because I used instant yeast, but that is what The Fresh Loaf used, or perhaps the space was just ultra warm?]
When it has doubled in size, punch the dough down to release some of the trapped gases and divide it into 8 pieces. [I used a kitchen scale to ensure they were all about the same size.] Roll each piece into a ball, cover the balls with a damp kitchen towel, and let them rest for 20 minutes. This step allows the dough to relax so that it’ll be easier to shape.
While the dough is resting, preheat the oven to 450 degrees. If you have a baking stone, put it in the oven to preheat as well. If you do not have a baking stone, turn a cookie sheet upside down and place it on the middle rack of the oven while you are preheating the oven. This will be the surface on which you bake your pitas.
After the dough has relaxed for 20 minutes, spread a light coating of flour on a work surface and place one of the balls of dough there. Sprinkle a little bit of flour on top of the dough and use a rolling pin or your hands to stretch and flatten the dough. You should be able to roll it out to between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick - 6 inches in diameter. If the dough does not stretch sufficiently you can cover it with the damp towel and let it rest 5 to 10 minutes before trying again.
Place discs on a lightly greased baking sheet [I used parchment paper] and let rise, uncovered, until barely doubled in thickness, about 30-45 minutes.
Open the oven and place as many pitas as you can fit on the hot baking surface [I made 2 at a time on my baking stone]. They should be baked through and puffy after 3 minutes. If you want your pitas to be crispy and brown you can bake them for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, but it isn’t necessary [I baked mine for about 5 minutes each].

Well tonight will be the last night to sleep in FL. We should arrive in CT around 11pm tomorrow. Time flys by when you're having fun.

Yesterday we decided to go Canoeing in the Keys...not quite. We went to some park in Key Largo and when we got there it was too late to go on the glass bottom boat so we said lets go canoeing...we got our paddles, life jackets on, signed the paper work and so on. We decided to bring Eric's dads camera (He was nice to let us borrow it since our camera's battery was low) and a cell phone on the canoe. Well the tour guide said Eric you go in and right as Eric entered the canoe the canoe tipped over so goes Eric in the water, the camera, and the cell phone. It was not fun. Thank the Lord Eric didnt get hurt but the phone and camera are trash now. Bad idea to bring those along....so much for taking pictures. So now we have to get a new cell phone and buy Eric's dad a camera. :( It could be worse though. Glad Eric didn't get hurt.

Today we went to Walmart and went grocery shopping to make dinner. I made homemade Tomato sauce and put together Baked Ziti and brownies. So my afternoon was busy in the kitchen but I had fun cooking away. Around 8 we started watching American Idol. Now I am going to chill.

1 more day of vacation and then its back to work on Thursday!

Florida Keys = Gorgeous

Right now as I blog...yeah I know...your saying...Why is she blogging while at the Keys? Well I just wanted to blog while I am waiting for Eric to come out of the shower and before I forget all the details...LOL

Yesterday around 12pm we left Eric's parents house for the FL keys and let me tell you it is so beautiful here. The water is so blue especially past Key Largo. Marthon is the key we stayed at overnight. Last night as we went around looking for a nice place for dinner we ended up going all the way to Key West. It was very nice we ended up going all the the way to the southernmost point about 90 miles from Cuba. It was too dark to see anything. There was tons of shopping places but we couldn't find a good place to park. After riding around we actually found a place to sit on a deck and listen to some Island music...it was very nice. We got home around 11:3o and fell asleep.

This morning we woke up to the sound of the ocean waves. So far we went in the spa and the pool and it was already nice out! Not sure what the plans are....I guess we both will see....Stay tuned!

Catch up

Thursday night we went over Jachin and Christines house and just hung out. Friday my mother in law and I went shopping! Boy did we shop! We went to Cato's and I was able to find a skirt for 3.99 and 2 shirts for really cheap. After that we went to Belles outlet and i found 2 pairs of shorts for Eric and some makeup for really cheap. Walmart was next on the list and boy the Walmart down here is Fantastic. It is a super Walmart with groceries and produce, meat department you name it. It also has a medical center, hair salon, Mcdonalds, Nail salon and etc. My mother in law and I got a pedicure and a manicure and boy did the pedicure feel so relaxing.

At night us girls hung out and went of Christines house and we watched a movie and had dinner and that was basically it for the evening. The guys went out to a baseball game.

Today was Jachin's Wedding..It was in a small wedding chapel and it was very nice but tiny inside. Took lots of pictures but I will have to put some up when I get home. Stayed tuned. After the wedding and mini reception we hopped on a boat for 3 hours and had a dinner buffet and we had a good time with everyone.

Tomorrow we are leaving for "The Keys". Cant wait for us 2 to be away! Oh did I tell you we got a 2008 Mustang to drive around with for the next couple of days! Stayed tuned

Vacation

Last night we left CT at 6:30 pm and arrived in West Palm at 11pm. Flying was like doing a new thing for me. Its been about 8 years since I have flown and I forgot what it was like to be high in the sky. But I am so glad I arrived safe and sound.

Today we didnt really do much. Woke up at 9, played with Avery (Jachin's 10 month daughter). If you dont know who Jachin is--he is Eric's brother. Then we met Jachin at Galaxy Diner and had lunch. Dwayne, my brother- in- law joined us too. We came home around 1pm and I got talking to my Mother in Law about quilting. Boy can she sew. She is really good! I ended up falling asleep for about 2 1/2 hours too. Not sure what the plans are for tonight...

I am also not feeling so great. today ..I have a headache and stomach virus..hopefully I will get better soon.

Well yesterday we started looking for houses. Its so great having a sister who is a real estate agent that is an added bonus! We have signed the paperwork to put our house on the market but we have lots to do to make it sell for the price we are asking. My sister really helped us out a great deal...We saw a house we really like but we will have to wait patiently and see..

Today we went to church and practically my whole family was in church except for Jon. It was so nice to go to church with family. Jenna and Josh (my twin niece and nephew) looked so adorable with their Sunday best on. They did so good too in church. After church we went over my parents house and had Sunday dinner. What a good time.

Safety is of the Lord

Well..we have had an interesting and very disturbing week. On Sunday Morning there was a Deadly home invasion .3 miles from our house. We are very much disturbed and very so sorry for our neighbors. It was a very horrible. Praise the Lord that the police caught the guy. I feel so bad for the people involved. I am planning on sending a card to Carol and put a Gospel tract in the card. Pray that she will be encouraged and that she will be saved if she isn't already. Anyways E and I are looking for a new home and we are probably going to put our house on the market very soon. Pray for us to find a decent home for not too much money.

Yesterday was Eric's 32 B-day. I put together Lasagna and bought a Reeses's Peanut Butter Icecream cake at Friendlys. YUMMY! We had dinner at my parents house and then later my mom, eric and me played sequence. Happy Birthday Eric! Love much~!

Pray that I will continue to keep reminding myself...Safety is of the Lord. He protects His Children.

Yeah Eric and i are flying to FL in April. I haven't flown in like 7 years! We were able to get tickets from Southwest.com for less than 215 each..Round trip! Eric's brother is getting married and we are going for a whole week! I was able to get the time off. Also I am looking forward to warmer weather. It was freezing today. Anyways thats all the news I have to share.

Easter 2008

This past weekend was a very busy one. We got invited to 3 Friend's houses. We had a blast....On Saturday afternoon we went over the Brewer's( Friends from Church). I got there around 3:30 and for a couple of hours Kathy showed me how to sow. It was fun. We had dinner and then we played in a pickle what a fun game. Karen and Steve came over too. We didn't leave until after 11pm.

Easter Sunday AM we went to church. It was a good service. Sunday afternoon we went over Lyndsey's (Jon's Fiance) parents house. Around 6 we went over Dan and Talie's house for some games of Sequence and we also got to try out the new Wii game. Very fun!

Well today I am getting ready for a candle party so that means some cleaning and preparing to do....So off I go. Have a good Tuesday.

Pineapple cake for Easter

1 yellow cake mix
2 cans crushed pineapple (larger can)
16 oz. cream cheese
2 boxes instant vanilla pudding
1 container cool whip

Bake cake in large cookie sheet (with rim) for approx. 15 min. Drain pineapple for about an hour or more to eliminate all juice. Soften cream cheese. Whip cream cheese, then add milk according to pudding instructions (I think you need 2 cups milk total) and pudding mix. Mix well with mixer. Stir in the drained crushed pineapple. Place this mixture on cooled cake and then top with cool whip.

Spring Ahead

Well its almost here....Spring! I am looking forward to the days being longer and when it will become dark like at 8pm instead at 4pm. Anyways....

I started my 4th job that exists in my life right now...I got my Hallmark Merchandising job back. So I have 8-10 hours more to add to my work week....

36 hours @ The Hartford
2 hours @ Piano Lessons
4 hours @ Bristol Hospital
10 hours @ Hallmark

That is 51 hours of working in 1 week People. Am I nuts or what? Not by choice do I want to do this. Anyways....I have a lot of responsibilites right now and eventually things will get paid for such as my irs taxes, credit cards, and hospital bill....whew! I am praying that it will get better and that E will find a job with benefits.....Please pray! Well....I am gonna go to bed now...I need all the zzzzzzzzzzzz i need. Good night.

Valentines Day Memories

This year we enjoyed Valentines Day at home. After work on Thursday I went to several stores looking for Filet Mignon to make for dinner. Now I know why I never buy it! It was so expensive at one store it was like 24.99 lb. So I decided to go to another store but they didn't have any at all so I ended up at Shop Rite and I did shop right! The Filet Mignon there was only 9.99 lb. Good deal and it was so yummy too. So that is what I made for dinner....Salad, Filet Mignon. For dessert I made Cherry Flop. I also came home to some beautiful roses, European Chocolates, a sweet card and a movie-"No Reservations". My man goes overboard all the time. I brought home a balloon for him and I tried getting a card for him....But they were all picked over and none of them was the "perfect card". Anyways we had dinner together and unfortunately I was not feeling so great and I ended up going to bed really early that night but this weekend we did spend a little time together...On Friday night we went out to dinner to our favorite restaurant Chilis and then we hit TJMAXX and found some cool items for less then $10. Saturday I went to work till 12 pm and then we went to the mall, came home and watched the movie No reservations and at night we ended up going to Ruby's with Kristen and Mom. Sunday night we went over Tim M house for Superbowl night. I watched some of the game but decided to watch the puppy bowl on Animal planet. Much more interesting.

How depressing do I sound. Well I have been through a lot of trials recently.....Discouraged about work, my accident, my hospital bill from when I broke my wrist (the bowling ally is not covering my doctor and hospital bill), today when I went to pay my house taxes I got 2 parking tickets one my car was facing the opposite direction and the other one for having my back wheel a little bit away from the curb....Luckily the total cost was 20 dollars for the 2 violations.....

I decided I hate some things in life...

Why are interviews such a drill and grill time?
Why are cars not universal in where the gas cap is?
Why are some people so fake?
Why if you work hard at work its never good enough?

Well its a new month tomorrow....I am reminded of

forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Well Yesterday marked my 1st time of being ever in an accident. I am very thankful to be alive and thankful our car is not totalled or damaged too badly. I was traveling at 4 pm on 1/22 and I happened to go down a street in Plainville CT that I rearly every go down and there happened to be 2 stop signs in less than 10 feet of each other. And I am not sure what happened but My car would not stop and went thru the stop sign before I knew it I had a car right in front of me and I had no control of my vehicle. I tried stopping the car and it wouldn't stop...I knew I was going to hit the car and it was a matter of time before CRASH. I prayed to God right before the crash to protect me and I felt like an angel came and put a shield right in front of me. It was something I really never experienced in my life. It was amazing. I pulled my car over and the other car stopped and the lady came out and said are you ok and I said yes and that I was really sorry. I was still in shock and felt really numb..I was just so thankful that I didn't get hurt. She called the cops and meanwhile I was searching frantically all over for my phone. Couldn't find it and then I said to the lady "I need to call someone...I am gonna go across the street to use the phone and she said you can use mine but her phone was going dead. I tried calling my mom's cell phone and my aunt's phone and my sister's phone and no one was picking up. I am like they are only 1 block away and I needed someone there with me. Finally my mom called back and the lady told her I got in an accident and that I was ok. The cop arrived and shortly after that my mom came. He ran my license and insurance and I was praying hard and crying and after a few minutes he came out of his car and said "I'm not going to give you a ticket?" I didnt argue. Praise the Lord! No Ticket, No injuries and my car isn't too bad! I love you, Lord!

Sunday Night Service was about The woman with the alabaster box. John 12:3-- What does it take for you to serve God?

Tuesday was about the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8. That we dont need financial power or a good education to serve God but that we need a passion and burden.

Wednesday night was about Winning Souls what a challenge.

I finally found a cool hairdresser that knew what she was doing. She did a good job and my hubby seems to like it...My mom really liked it too...I will have to post some pictures of it.

Holiday Memories

Well it started on Dec 15th...Our church did a really nice play on "I'll be Home for Christimas". What a a great Production. Eric and I saw it both nights! It was well done. Then we went to CCA's concert on a Friday night and we also attended Kristen's Christmas concert at Emmanuel. I love going to Church Plays and Christian School concerts during Christmas. It remind you what Christmas is all about with all the Christmas Carols being sung and played. OH and I forgot my mom and I did our usual Baking too during the week before Christmas.

Christmas Eve
I had to work till 2:15. I was really worn out when I got home and I took a nap and then got ready to go over Papa's, Holly's and The Smith's (Aunt and Uncle and cousins) House. I brought over the Asain Eggrolls and the Buffalo Chicken Dip. When we got there we ate and had a good time of talking together. We distributed our gifts and took Family photos. After we got home Eric and I exchanged our gifts to one another. Eric bought me a mini refrigerator to store upstairs, a food processor, and 2 movies. I bought Eric a dressy coat and socks and T shirts, 2 pairs of Pants and A Pirates Movie. I love my food processor---I have used it several times to make a crust out of Graham Crackers and make Cookie dough.

Christmas Day

Eric and I cleaned up the house a little bit and made some cookies together to bring over my parents house. We made some more Fudge Meltaways. Around 3pm we went over my parents house and we opened presents and had dinner.

New Year's Eve

I worked till 2:15 and after work Eric and I went to Aldi's to get some stuff to bring for the Party over Papa's, Holly's and The Smiths. I bought a Fruit Salad and Periogies to the Party. I also prepared a Chicken Divan and made the dough for my Tassies to bring over Jon's for New Year's Day. We didn't stay till midnight on New Years Eve---Eric wasn't feeling good..We came home watched a little of the news and said "Happy New Year to each other and went to sleep. Yeah

I have been having interviews up to glore here. Yesterday I had a second interview at Beekley corp and I was there for 3 hours checking it out and watching a girl work the same position I am applying for. It was very interesting and fun. The time went by very fast. I am praying that it will work out if the Lord wills. I was very nervous so hopefully it will not be a deterent!

I am glad that I got home safe last night too. The weather was horrible!

Tonight I am looking forward to going to see some people from Central Christian. Tonight is the Christmas concert and Eric is excited about seeing his old students!

Yummy Baked Potato Soup!!! Nice and Creamy

Lately I have been in a mood to make soups...Here is a die for Baked Potato Soup

A baked potato soup with butter, green onions, bacon, cheddar cheese sour cream, and seasonings.
INGREDIENTS:
2/3 cup butter
2/3 cup flour
7 cups milk
4 large baking potatoes, baked, cooled, peeled and cubed, about 4 cups
4 green onions, thinly sliced
10 to 12 strips bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
1 1/4 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
PREPARATION:
In a large Dutch oven or stockpot over low heat, melt butter. Stir in flour; stir until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly, until sauce has thickened. Add potatoes and onions. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until soup begins to bubble. Reduce heat; simmer gently for 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; stir until cheese is melted. Serve baked potato soup immediately.
This baked potato soup recipe serves 6 to 8.

Happy December Everyone!

I love this time of the year! Celebrating Jesus's Birth. It irritates me to no end of people that Say "Happy Holidays" or Season's Greetings because they don't want to acknowlege Christ! It is a shame.

It isn't Xmas, but Christmas
For that's the day Christ came.
When you take Christ out of Christmas
You cross out life's best name.

I wonder why they cross out Christ,
The best that God could give.

That we for Him should live.

Why take Christ's name out of Christmas?

Thanksgiving 2007

This year Eric went to FL to visit his family for Thanksgiving. I was not able to go because of work and other things. So my Thanksgiving has been a little different without him here. I am looking forward to spending at least Christmas together. He needed to see his family since its been a year and half since he saw them last. He will be coming home on Tuesday. I am looking forward to having him back...its been too long.

This year my parents had Thanksgiving at their house. She went overboard with all the yummy food like always. Jon's Future inlaws came over (YES, FINALLY HE PROPOSED) It was fun. I am so proud of my bro...He proposed to Lyndsey on Thanksgiving night! What a wonderful time to get engaged. We all went around the table and said what we were thankful for and he said he was thankful for family and friends and then all of a sudden he dishes out a cake that had a personalized box that said "Will you marry me?". Inside the box was an engagement ring. What a nice plan he had. It was so awesome. Lynds was so shocked and she is so excited! I can't wait for the wedding now. I have something to look forward to. I love weddings!

We had a good time and I am certainly anticipating Christmas! Can't wait!

Weekend Journey---Lots of eating out!!!

This weekend Eric and I did a lot of stuff together. I just love times like this!
On Saturday we went shopping together and then went out to lunch to Friendlys. Tried the new quesidillas. Yum.

Today we went to church and what a great message on Hope. We also had a veteran's day service. After church we went to Century Buffet with Talie and Dan and little Isaac. Pastor and Mrs Davidson and another couple. What a fun time we had. I had a great time talking to Mrs. Davidson. She had a great testimony she shared in church and she is truly a wonderful person! I really look up to her! After church we went and cleaned the hospital and then came and took a nap. Later on in the night we went to Chili's for a date! What a great time we had together.. We had the baby back bonus for 10.99...Salad, Baby Ribs, Fries and dessert. What a great deal.

Eric is leaving in a couple of days for FL. He will be gone for almost 2 weeks. I will certainly miss him greatly but I am happy he will be able to see his family and his new niece. Pray for him to have a safe trip and that I will not be too sad and that I won't go crazy w/o him. I love him so much!

Easy Fudge and Oreo Truffles

Yummy Fudge

3 Cups of Semisweet Chocolate chips
1 tsp of vanilla
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 cup of chopped walnuts (opt)

Stir together and put in microwave till chocolate chips are melted. Stir again and add to pan. Put in refrigerator till hard. Yummy

Easy Oreo Truffles

1 large package of Oreos
1 med. size tub of cream cheese
1 bag of chocolate chips

* Dump oreos into a Ziploc and mash to crumbs. Mix oreo crumbs with cream cheese. Roll into balls, lay on wax paper and chill till firm. Melt the chocolate chips (add lard till you get a "dippable" consistency) and drop oreo balls into the chocolate. Scoop out, lay on wax paper, return to fridge. You can then melt white chocolate chips, add food coloring, and drizzle it over the truffles for Holiday decorating! These are DELICIOUS!!!

eventful girls night out

i am typing with one hand so excuse the errors if i make any,,,

well last night i went out for a girls night out,,,,with amy and chistina. we decided to go bowling..we were having a good ole time and i was the last person to go for the 10th frame and i slipped and fell on my wrist and i was literly in the gutter.. what a finale to the game.

i was seeing stars and my hearing was so dim and i felt so weird, the paiin was enmourmous. i had the whole place starring at me because i was puking all over. there were these two guys following me with buckets lol.

i went to the er and they said no fracture...i just got a call from the hospital that they re read the x ray and they see a slight fracture.

Be Still and Know!

These last few weeks have been a time of trial and suffering. I really can't go into detail but I have seen the Lord like never before work in my life.

I had several people at different times remind me at different times the verse "Be still and Know that I am God". People have even left me emails with the verse "Be Still and Know that I am God" in it and I was looking at a couple of Christian magazines and Books and I would see the verse pop out "Be still and Know". God is good! I never really experience this in my life before but I know if it wasnt for God being a comfort and an encourager to me I don't know.

I was riding in my car the other night crying and I turned the radio and the first song to play is "The Power of Love"

Here are the words:

Durham Fair

This Saturday I went to the Durham Fair with my parents and Kristen. We left around 3pm and we were in traffic for about 1/2 hour. We finally found a parking lot for free where the bus can take us the entrance of the park. We had a good time walking around seeing the animals, crafts, and shopping at the vendor tables. We also had a blooming onion and fried dough. I had a good time but unfortunately Eric was home sick. I am looking forward to going to the Berlin Fair this Friday night together.

Lesson Learned

Well yesterday Toby was so sick. I got home at 3:30 and Toby would not eat and he was acting so weird. I forced him to drink and eat and he puked several times and had a huge explosion luckly outside! I called the vet and of course that told me to bring him in. I was so worried about him. So Eric and I drove to Glastonbury and he got checked out. They examined him, talked to us and gave him some medications. After that he was doing much better. I am not happy about the bill....142.00. All because..................We gave him a chew bone and come to find out it is only intended for adult dogs. Obviously it was the bone that did it since he had 2 of them the night before.

Toby is doing much better. It was so pitiful to see him like that! Next time I will read all the directions!

What me a Performer?

Well Sunday night was our first practice for the Christmas Play our Church is doing. I decided I would show up and that I wouldn't act or sing but I would just do the costumes, stage decorating. or help out. We got there and director told us about the play, the name of the play, when the play is and so on. He said the play is "I'll be home for Christmas!"

We all got the scripts out and we were reading the play aloud and the director goes Lisa can you be Norma. Norma had a lot of parts in the play and I kept reading it. At the end of practice. Dan, the director said to me. Are you comfortable with being Norma?" I was shocked that he would pick me! It gave me so much confidence. So I have a lot of work ahead of me. Every Sunday Eric and I will be busy. Please pray for me to not be so nervous and that I will do a good job! Thanks

2 things almost mastered!

Toby has been with us for a week now. He is doing pretty good. He has learned sit, come, and now we are working on "Toby Lay down". He has learned to go pee pee outside but we are still working on praising him for "poopie since he does it at weird times (during the night or when we are not home). It is a difficult process but I am sure with time he will learn.

Eric and I have volunteered to be in a Christmas play at our church. So we are excited about that. So we will be busy for a couple of months on Sunday to practice for it.

We have a new addition to our family! A Puppy

Saturday Eric and I went out and found a puppy. His name is Toby and he is a pure breed Yorkie! He is so docile and I have haven't heard him bark yet. We are currently training him and it is teaching us patience. He is a good dog though.

Labor Day Weekend!

Saturday I had to work 8-12pm. After work I came home and relaxed and took a nap. Later at night Eric and I went to Chili's for dinner and then we came home and watched a movie.

Sunday was church and after church we went to Century Buffet and had lunch with people from our church. We also signed up to be in our church's yearly Christmas play! Exciting! In the next week or so we are going to begin practicing.

Monday we enjoyed the day together. We woke up and said lets go to a park and go hiking. We ended up at Chatfield Hollow State Park. What a fun day! We had a picnic and made bbq chicken on our new Colemans grill. Yum! After lunch we took a hike down a trail and then played the game Sequence. What fun! Eric did manage to beat me twice. (I'll get him back) After that we drove to Old Lyme and went to my Aunt and Uncle's cottage and walked to the beach and hung out with my family. We did stop and get the famous Chocolate Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. YUM! Could not resist.
