I Won!!! I Won!!!!

I won 1st prize for the cookies I made for the Berlin Fair..I was so happy to hear that. Although I didnt get my prize ====which was only 4 dollars. I decided I didnt want to go back to the fair which was about 20 minutes away for just 4 dollars so I decided to just donate it.

Recipe for the cookies Very Easy and Yummy!!!

Basic Slice Dough Cookies ( Got it from Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook)

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour

In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or until softened. Add the sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until Combined. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Beat in as much as the flour as you can with the mixer. Using a wooden spoon, stir in remaining flour.

Basic Spirals:

Divide Dough in Half. Tint 1 portion with food coloring any color you like. Knead coloring into dough until well mixed. If necessary wrap dough in waxed paper or clear plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out each color of dough into a 12x 8 inch rectangle. Place one rectangle on top of each other. Press down gently with your hands to seal. Tightly roll up, jelly roll style starting from one of the long sides. Wrap and refrigerate 2-4 hours.

Using a sharp knife, cut each roll into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place slices 1 inch apart from other cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.
